SCCA NER Points Event #9 9-23-12

I have had a lot going on recently (as you will read in future posts) so I apologize for the lack of updates.  The next few posts will be playing catch up for the end of the season.

Back on September 23rd we had the ninth and final points event for our region. Sandi and I ran uncontested in ASP. There was a huge turnout overall but Josh's car is still not ready for the abuse and the rest of the semi consistent ASP drivers were not in attendance. With five runs I was able to get from a dirty 61.0 down to a 59.1. Sandi was also able to improve her times by several seconds throughout the day. Typically I have Sandi run first to get a little heat in the tires but since it was so cool in the morning I ran first as I didn't think she would have had a very good time trying to handle the car on cold slicks. The car ran flawlessly all day and burned very little oil (if any, I haven't check the catch cans yet). The course was an odd one. It didn't have much flow and included several very tight areas that were not very fun in a big car. That said, their were several sections that had space to get some speed and make up for lost time. Overall, out of 148 drivers, I placed 23 in Raw time and a little lower in PAX.

Below is the video of my fastest run. I tried a new place for the camera in hopes for the same view but less shaky. The camera is definitely more stable here but doesn't provide the same view of the driver/steering wheel.



There are now only two SCCA events left. The next one being the Sterling Moss Runoff where all the class champions compete against each other to determine the "driver of the year" and then the Team Challenge, a fun event where we are scored in teams of 4 but are not only scored by our times but also by team name creativity, "uniforms"s and a slew of other entertaining categories.

Renegade Miata Club has two points events to go so I have two more chances to take back a spot or two in the non Mazda class. The next event is this Saturday. I am hoping that the colder temps will give me the upper hand over the other two wheel drive cars and maybe even some rain!
